Cute animal jewellery designs

My new summer jewellery designs include these cute animal necklaces, earrings and bracelets. The friendship bracelets are a particular favourite of mine, as they are great gifts for kids & adults. Each sterling silver animal is handmade and there are a variety of animals to choose from including cats, dogs, bunnies, foxes, wolves, crocodiles, chameleons and ducks!

Handmade Dragonfly Necklaces

 

This week I have been making these sparkly dragonfly necklaces. Each pendant is made with 4 layers of glass and kiln fused at very high temperatures. The base layer of glass is black, followed by 2 layers of sparkly dichroic dragonfly glass. Finally a layer of clear glass is placed on top which will give the pendant a nice glossy finish.

 

After firing the glass, all 4 layers are fused together. Using my glass grinding machine, I shape the glass pieces and even out all the edges. The glass pieces are placed back in the kiln to be fire polished. This will bring them up nice & shiny after all the grinding.

 

Once the kiln has completely cooled down, the glass pieces can be removed and a bail can be glued on to make each piece into a beautiful one of a kind (OOAK) necklace.

Jewellery Making Projects

Making your own beautiful jewellery can be very easy to do. Especially today where there are so many websites available to buy jewellery making components such as charms, beads, chains & cords.

Coming up with ideas can be tricky, but sometimes the most simple of designs can be the most effective. There are several jewellery making magazines which have lots of inspiring ideas and the best part is they sometimes come with their own free samples to try out!

My latest jewellery project includes some amazing lampwork glass beads purchased from Etsy. The beads are in an ocean waters design and midnight moon design and are from beadgoodies Etsy Shop. The detail in the beads is just stunning.

I have kept the design very simple and used a silver headpin with a 1.5mm ball end. I have them put a 3mm silver spacer bead on the headpin, followed by the glass lampwork bead, and then another 3mm spacer bead. Using round nose pliers, I have made a loop in the end of the headpin and cut of the excess wire.

I then added a 5mm jump ring and a TierraCast bail to make the necklace, and added sterling silver hook wires to make the earrings.

With a sterling silver chain and a luxury gift box, these sets come out looking fantastic!

Very Berry Licious Earrings!

I just love working with Swarovski Crystal Elements and trying to find new ways in which to use crystals in my jewellery pieces. Sometimes the simpliest designs are often the most elegant and eye-catching. Swarovski crystals are beautifully cut and come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and colours.

My latest jewellery pieces in my Etsy Shop are these 'Very Berry Licious Earrings'. I cute pair of dangling earrings made with Swarovski crystals, sterling silver twist chain and sterling silver earring hooks.

I have named these earrings Wild Red Berry, Blueberry, Honeysuckle Orange Berry and Fuchsia Berry Licious Earrings. All earrings are gift boxed, so they are perfect little gifts for friends, family or just for yourself!

Handmade Double Wrap Tila Beaded Bracelets

This week I have been working on these new beaded bracelets made with Miyuki tila beads. The beads themselves are 5mm x 5mm and are flat, so they look like little tiles. The effect they create when beaded together is gorgeous.

These bracelets wrap twice around the wrist and are very light to wear. It takes a little while to make each bracelet as each tila bead has to be woven inbetween a row of cord. They can be made with different coloured beads, different colour cords, and also in single wraps and triple wraps.

For a little added bling and sparkle, the bracelets fasten together with a beautiful Swarovski crystal button. I have become quite addicted to Swarovski crystal elements lately, as they are simply elegant and come in amazing shapes & styles.
